Today is Tuesday, May 21, 2019. I am at Chokoloskee Island Park & Marina. I am pretty sure I won’t be coming back here. I think the whole Island is on the depressing side. I must say, I am really glad I did this trip though. It has taught me a lot. Never go camping in the summer (which means May to October) and don’t bother with a tent room during this same time. The tent is way too hot! Then when the rains come…….fagettabout it! This is what happens!

It is interesting that it was the same tent pole that failed this time, just like the last time. I put it out on “T@G You’re It” and a guy asked me that question because the same one failed for him twice! I’ll call ARB & get another arm. Hopefully it will be free. John & I just took the two poles off so we could roll up the ARB. It really is easier with 2 people. Oh, did I mention, John was here too. It was nice to discover things with another person. He loves to fish & had his gear with him. Here is proof he did some fishing:

I even tried it a little. No bites, but lots of people went out with captains & came back with fish. I saw a brochure that said they charge $450 for the day! That is too much for me. All of the sun I got yesterday, I’m regretting. My nose is not healed enough! Did I show you what I looked like with my stitches? (I’m probably going to regret this!)

I feel like I’m so old in this picture. I tried my best to look good……didn’t work! Dr. Ross did a great job. He went in three times & I didn’t need any grafts & he stitched it so my nostrils remained the same. It’s practically healed on the outside after only 3 weeks. I still can’t figure out how he dug it out without bothering my nasal passage.
Anyway, back to this trip. I am laying down in Olivi@ doing this blog. John left this afternoon so I’m here by myself. It is almost 7PM & I’m sort of waiting for the afternoon rain storm. Nothing yet! I have the stereo on & the AC. It’s really quite pleasant!
So today we went out to Clyde Butcher’s “Big Cypress Gallery”. I have never been there! It is really nice. I bought this:

On the back it says “Ghost Orchid – Clyde Butcher Photography”. That is probably the closest I’ll ever get to owning one of his pictures! Anyway, I love the shirt! It’s a really lightweight fabric. Like wearing nothing!
We also went back to Camilla’s Grill for lunch. We went there last night for dinner & the rain was so intense that we had to stay there for quite a while & all I could think about was how wet Olivi@ would be. But it didn’t rain here at all. Looking out now, doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting the rain today.
Anyway, the place was pretty cute as these pictures show, but on closer inspection, it really needs some work. First of all there is no AC. But it has been nice here these last few days. Good breezes, lower humidity – NO BUGS! There are a couple of kids running it. Family owned. They were both working last night & today!

It was along the riverbank and was interesting to watch the boaters-mostly small Airboats.
So we also did this:

It is so cute & Don is the Postmaster:

He has been working there for 3 years. Over 20 with the postal service. He has a 50 minute commute. How about that 2 Hour Lunch! We made it just after he returned. Perfect timing!
Here’s a picture of John! Great picture! He takes a great picture!

I think John had a pretty good time. At least he had some vacation time & got to fish. I know he did a lot of new things. So did I & it was fun doing it with some one rather than by myself. I probably wouldn’t have done any of those things if it was just me. Oh yea! We tried to go to the Smallwood Store & although it said it was open, no one showed up so we missed that. I may try it tomorrow. But probably not. I think I’ll be leaving around noon tomorrow. I just love drinking coffee with Olivi@!
Well I guess that’s about enough for today. I think I’ll try a DVD tonight. Thanks for visiting!
