Olivi@ & Otis RV Life #71

Good Morning Fellow Travelers,

Today is Friday, August 16, 2019. I am so excited today! I’ve got a LOT going on and I can’t wait to get it all out in my blog so I can let it go! I’ve been busy finding my new home! I have two possibilities. One in ALVA and one in Punta Gorda. One is a 2001 Born Free 26′ Class C for $19,900 and one is a 2005 24′ Class C for $28,000. I’m trying to get the specs sent to my email so I can upload the pictures here. I’m having trouble with that right now. Gmail doesn’t seem to want to do it. I may resort back to earthlink which I should go check anyway. I haven’t checked that in a while. I think I just figured it out. Let me see.

Punta Gorda

This one is newer than the other one. It has less miles on it and fewer miles which is great. They said they took it on an 11,000 mile trip recently and they decided they wanted a larger RV to travel in. So I am looking to check this one out.

Then there is this one:

Alva

So this one is pretty unique. It is longer than the other and has 95K miles on it. It is also older – 2001. The engine should be ok for 250K (my guess) which will last me for a while. This one has a built in kennel which would be great for the kitties when we are “on the road”. They also have a 6 in memory foam bed which seems great in theory. They also painted the cabinets dark blue and white which makes it look pretty inside. They have a new little couch for a seat. They have improved it a lot in 2018 so it has some new bells and whistles.

I have learned that Born Free and Lazy Daze make the best Class C RV’s (according to Bob Wells who is my RV Guru) and Bill concurs that it should be well made. I like the fact that the Born Free has 4 roll bars in case of an accident. Other RV builders don’t bother with that. The cabinets are all wood that is important – it makes it heavier than other products. I don’t think they have the tow capacity for my Jeep. It weighs 6500 pounds and most of these RV’s are rated for 5000 pounds which is more than I want to pull. Plus if I have my EBIKE, I won’t need a toad. At least initially. The only trouble with Born Free is that they are no longer in business. So if these two don’t work out, I’ll look for a Lazy Daze also. I have found a place to store it. It is right around the corner on 951 just south of the Hospital. It is called Naples RV Resort. It is where Sammy stays in the winter. Their rents are $700 a month and go UP in the SEASON! Sammy bought a new Winnie Mini last year and parked it there. I saw it yesterday when I was checking out the place. There is “lot” storage for $106 a month. I think that is great. So the good news is that I can store it there and get used to using it – kind of “Boondock” and drive it around here to get used to driving it. Also get the cats acclimated to it and then hit the road. I can go to Collier-Seminole State Park and do some camping.

Here is the storage areas:

Here is the other part of the lot:

Storage2

So I think this is a pretty good plan. Even if these 2 don’t work out, I’ll have the relief of knowing I can store it close to home. That is a great relief.

So now I’m thinking about Kim Johnson. She and her husband lived in an RV while she was working at Moorings Park and I thought it was pretty strange. But now I understand! I also get why Bill and Cathy love their life! It is so FREEING! My plan is to get out from under this house and all it entails. It will help me live a much healthier life with less stress (although I don’t have much of that anymore) and my money should last a lot longer.

I think I’ll go out to the CLAM for a while. I’ll be back later to add to this. Oh yeah, before I do this was my video from yesterday from the CLAM:

Rain in the CLAM

So I am at the Intergroup Office right now. I set it up to go to see the camper in Punta Gorda with Bill, but now he has a conflict that he needs to get Sheila home from the doctors (around 1:30) and then he needs to meet me after that at the 24 hour club. I just texted Ken Hill that we wouldn’t be there until closer to 3. I hope that will be OK with him.
