RV Life with DAISEE2 #100 Saturday, July 20, 2024

Good morning everyone. This is my 100th blog of DAISEE2. Wow – I’m over 800 blogs since I started this in 2014. It’s been 10 years! I’ve done a lot in those 10 years and the most I’ve done since I retired in 2017. I love retirement! We just got back from the PANCAKE Breakfast. It was really good. We’ll probably make it a monthly event. I had blueberry pancakes and there were also chocolate chip pancakes.

We’re really happy with our slab. So happy I got a tax return check this year to pay for it. It was about $5K and worth every penny. I’m going to try to find a place to keep DAISEE2 in cooler temperatures next August.

Today is my AA anniversary – 22 years! Congratulations to me. I got texts from 3 people this morning, Jackie, Joe and Stacy Welch! Joe and Jackie, Ron and Deb are already booked in Air B & B’s in Vancouver. I guess I’ll get on it today. I’m definitely flying. I was going to drive up in DAISEE2 but it would be far more expensive. I will fly, although I’m not really keen on flying anymore. It is at the Vancouver Convention Center on the waterfront. Looks pretty cool!

I just made a reservation at an Air B&B in Vancouver. I have no idea how far away this place is from the convention center. So it might not work, but maybe it will be OK. Time will tell. I’m having trouble with the Air B&B accepting my ID. I’m checking hotels in the area and they won’t take a reservation a year out. So now I wait for the AA Website to update us so we can make reservations. I’ll keep you posted!

I kept trying to send my ID to Air B&B and they kept refusing it, so I decided to cancel (hope I don’t regret that) the reservation. I felt it was too far from the venue – the host said I needed to take the train for 4 stops and then something else and I just felt too far from it. So now I wait – not an easy thing for me. I’m thinking I might try to Google the area and see which hotels are nearby. I want to wait because there are discounts that AA provides so I need to wait until September. That’s not so far away, but we’ll see if I do that!

Found a new place. Oh Canada Bed & Breakfast. I have a phone number to call. Here is the location:

It’s only 15 minutes to walk there. Much better than the AirB&B that was 4 train stops and whatever else. I did get my credit however:

Here is my credit:

So I’ll give the B&B a call to see if they take reservations a year in advance.

Found this on “Memories” – I hope it works. It’s of the shore of Lake Superior:

It works on my phone. It is pretty cool! Makes me want to go back!

OK so I tried to get a reservation for my dates in July. It’s booked and the guy tried to find me something else and it was no go. It might have been because AA blocked all the rooms. Anyway, it was going to be $400 a night at O Canada House. WAY more than I wanted to spend. SO I may not go. We’ll just see how it shakes out in September. I know costs have increased over the years, but REALLY?????

OK – no patience. I booked a place for $175 a night. Looks pretty good and I think it may be close to the Convention Center. I emailed the guy. We’ll see:

Here is where I’ll be:

The owner says I can “ride share on electric bikes” throughout the town. That seems interesting! They also have UBER! I was reading some reviews about this place and they were recent and very glowing. I think I’ll be happy there. Jackie and Laura are in a high rise condo. That will be nice at night, but my place is in a sweet neighborhood with shops in the area. I have the whole downstairs. I bet the owners are upstairs. Let me get a picture of the place:

Let me see if I can get some of the reviews: but first the place:

There were many like this. I’m getting very excited about this trip even though it is a year away. I texted Jackie all day yesterday. That is when she told me they were in a highrise. Let me get another great review:

I found this video on YouTube about the best campgrounds for summer camping in Arizona. I’ve been to Big Lake – it’s at 9000 feet so definitely cooler than Mesa.

Beginning this again on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Going to the meeting. I’ll be back!

It is now Friday, July 26, 2024. I’m going to start another blog. #101 coming up!
