Shannon and I have made it to BOZEMAN! I got through Sky Harbor Airport after having to walk about a mile to the 2nd terminal where Delta was. I thought when people said the next terminal, I was thinking like RSW and just at the end of the road. I should have had Jack drive me, but he was long gone so I had to walk while dragging my suitcase. But glad I had 2 hours to spare because I probably would have missed my flight otherwise. ANYWAY, this will probably be my last time flying anyway! So here was my first picture of the trip:

We were in the back of the plane both flights – the very last row from SLC to Bozeman!  They were good flights though – pretty quick.  We picked up our rental car and it was easy.  It’s a Toyota RAV4 and is difficult to drive – 2026 and it’s and EV and GAS.  Very confusing.  I made a couple of mistakes – left my watch charger at home.  The charger for the car I bought doesn’t work because there is no cigarette charger in it.  At least we can’t find it.  I’m gonna keep looking.  I think I’ll ask ChatGPT if there is one in the car.

Took a selfie with my first bear – in the airport at Bozeman!

This is our hotel in Belgrade/Bozeman.  It’s very new and very nice.  That is our RAV4 in front of the hotel.  We left at 8:30 to go to Yellowstone.  This was one of the snowy mountains:

We got to YNP on a beautiful sunny day.  Pictures at the sign:

It was an amazing experience!  It started to snow while we were traveling!  It kept getting worse and worse.  The trees were beautiful though and Bill and Cathy say the snow on the mountains will be beautiful tomorrow.  No snow on the trees though.  After getting to our cabin at Lake Lodge, Bill and Cathy made us lasagna for dinner.  It was so delicious.  It was amazing.  We had a great time.  Tomorrow, we go on a bus tour ALL DAY LONG.  It will be great for Shannon since she hasn’t been here before.  I’ll enjoy it also I’m sure!  Here are a couple of other pictures from today:

Another picture at the smaller YELLOWSTONE sign:

We saw this geyser by the side of the road.  First one Shannon ever saw before.

On our second day at YNP we took an 8 hour bus tour – it got a little long, but our bus driver Mike was super.  He was from Tyler, TX so it was nice to hear that accent.  He has been a HS Football coach for 43 years.  He has one more year and he’s going to retire.  He comes up to YNP to work for the summer and his wife stays home.  He was very personable.  Full of knowledge so it was a good thing for us to do for Shannon’s first visit to YNP.  We saw a LOT of geysers!  We even got to Old Faithful for lunch time and saw it go off.  There was another geyser that went off (Beehive) at the same time.  Old Faithful blows about every 90 minutes so seeing Beehive was amazing because it only goes off every 24 hours or so.   This trip has been amazing because all sorts of things have happened to make it very memorable.  Like the snow storm we had to drive through on Wednesday!  Let me see if my video of it is able to be uploaded here.  This video has our BISON JAM too!

Our bus tour yesterday was great.  First stop:  Gibbons Falls.

This is our altitude:

This is our bus and MIKE the best driver ever!

Found some POLAR and it was .99 but I had to put in on my credit card because they don’t accept cash at YNP any longer:

Before we took off, there was a fire going at Lake Lodge!

This is the beautiful General Store at the LAKE HOTEL:

Here are the temps today – Friday, June 12, 2026:

We went to the Deli at Old Faithful and this was our lunch:

We saw a lot of Bison yesterday at Hayden Valley.  It is good so we don’t need to get up early and try to see them at the crack of dawn:

Got a picture of a BISON on the side of the road from the bus:

We saw a lot of fumeroles, paint pots and geysers on this bus tour:  we’re done with that for now:

We’re going to Jackson today and stop by the Grand Teton National Park on our way.  Then we’ll get home and Bill and Cathy are going to cook us dinner tonight.  It’s a great life.  I’ll be back!

Old Faithful:

The picture above was of the Keplar Cascade!  Everything was so beautiful!

Today, Friday, June 12, 2026 we drove to Jackson, WY to see the Grand Teton National Park.  It was a fantastic day!  We had no problem with the GPS since I figured out how to make it work even when the phone was on SOS.  I just kept it plugged in while we were driving and Shannon took all of the pictures so my phone could keep on the GPS.  But I did get some pictures before I needed to do that:

This was Lake Yellowstone at the beginning of our trip today.  We see this view everyday from the Lodge!

This is a picture of me sitting at the Square in Jackson where the Antler Arch was – on each corner of the square:

Next I sat next to Teddy Roosevelt:

Here is a picture of a great BAR in Jackson:

This is a picture of me at the Grand Teton National Park sign:

Shannon and I took an $8 Stagecoach ride around the square:

Off to dinner with Bill and Cathy and Winston tonight.  We’ll sit by the fire!  Can’t wait!

Today is Saturday, June 13, 2026.  I found a new picture from yesterday that I want to put in here.  It’s a “mini” Grand Prismati

Here is a great picture of the mountains at Grand Teton National Park.  We skirted the park.  So we’ll go there next time.

When we came in on Wednesday, this was our neighbor looking out of our window:  Look at all of that SNOW!

The picture above shows the very cool lobby at The Lake Lodge. We got free ice and extra coffee there. The manager of the shop there, STEVE, gave us his extra watch charger so we could charge our watches. I thought we found a watch charger in Jackson, but it was a phone charger, not a watch charger. It was funny. We didn’t know the charger we got was only for phones until we opened it in the room. Fortunately, we had not returned Steve’s charger so we could still charge our watches for the next 2 days!

Just got back to our cabin after a wonderful day “on our own”. First stop was Fishing Bridge RV Park. Found the E loop where we should camp with FHU! It’s beautiful. Found Jack’s shirt in the Gift shop there and a Jigsaw puzzle of the Grand Prismatic. Getting there in person was the best way to see it at the “OVERLOOK” not on the boardwalk. As we were getting up to the lookout we ran into Rose and Marg from RVW! What are the chances that we would run into them at the exact time in a place of 2 million acres!!!!

Look how beautiful it was today:

After taking that hike – it was a mile round trip – our one and only hike in YNP – we found a great place to picnic with our left over cheese, meat and potato chips! Plus a baby coke!!!!!

On our way back we drove right by a BISON on the side of the road. I rolled down the window – I could almost touch him!

I think it was the same one from the other day – ha! ha! This picture below was the one I took, the other one was from Shannon.

It’s been such a wonderful trip. We’ve had so much fun and everything has been amazing. I am really looking forward to coming here again with Jack and the kitties. We can stay where Bill and Cathy are for only $15 a night – otherwise it will be over $100 at Fishing Bridge with FHU. B & C have FHU’s too! Just incredible.

Oh yeah – we made it to the Continental Divide too: I had my picture taken the last time I was here on the bus tour that B & C bought me.

Here I was in 2018: I guess it was at the “other” CD Sign!

We are now in Belgrade on Sunday afternoon at the hotel. We stopped at Costco for gas and found a watch charger at the TARGET across the street. It is where Bill and Cathy come to get their food once a month or so. There was an accident on our way to West Yellowstone. Hung us up for 1/2 hour. It was a head-on wreck between an SUV and a CLASS C Rental. We think the driver of the SUV was trying to pass. ANYWAY, as the traffic got going again, we saw where the 2 ambulances were meeting up with the helicopter to fly them out. It looked really bad. So on we went to West Yellowstone. We stopped at the Grizzley and Wolf Sanctuary in West Yellowstone. Saw a Bald Eagle and this:

Our only Grizzly at YNP!

I discovered a couple of pictures (3) in my “out box” so I thought I’d add them to the blog. This is our First Stop on the bus tour:

The next two are “black pools”!

These pictures just show how unique and beautiful it is at Yellowstone National Park!

All in all it has been a fantastic experience. I really think it would be great to do it with Jack and the kitties. That will be interesting!
