Good Morning Everyone. I made it to QUARTZSITE! So proud of myself. I was vacillating back and forth about going and not going. I had all kinds of anxiety about going. I’m not sure why. Anyway, I was going to follow Mary and Jan out here because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get here – I put the GPS co-ordinates into my GPS and actually it had me turning the wrong way off of I 10. I turned around and then went the way my written notes were and I found it here just fine. I’m glad I don’t have my car with me now. I do have my bike, but I’m not sure whether I’ll use it on these rocky areas. I don’t want to fall. Time will tell. I was really grateful that I decided to come on my own rather than go with Jan and Mary. They had a ZOOM meeting and didn’t get here until 4 while I was here at 2:30. I pulled in just behind Meg and Karen. Genie was already here. Backed in just across from Genie. Genie has a propane fire pit so we sat around it last night. The big group wood fire is down a bit from us, so we didn’t go there last night. I just love this life. I miss not having Metaxa with me this time, but I wasn’t sure how cold it was going to be so I left her at home. She has been pooping inappropriately lately and I’m a little worried about her. Jack said she used the box yesterday, so hopefully he won’t kill her before I get home. I’m thinking about meeting up with Carolyn from Carolyn’s RV Life on Monday. She is going to be in this area and I’m not sure I’ll get a chance to do it ever again so we’ll see. It was an easy drive up here yesterday. Straight on I 10 through Phoenix and then to Exit 19 that got me to 95 which is where we are gathered. Only traffic was outside Phoenix and that wasn’t cool, but it kept moving, just a little slow.
I’m trying to figure out how all my systems work while boondocking. I’m using my little Jackery for plugging this computer in while I work. Later I’ll turn it off to save energy. I’m especially happy that my Verizon MiFi works so well. I took a video from inside Daisy this morning and I’m uploading it now. Not sure how long that will take, but I’ll insert it here when it’s done. Now I’m going to try to upload a picture. This is the temperature this morning:

As you can see the time and date are wrong on the weather station. I don’t know how to fix that, but I think it’s because it lost power. I don’t think it really matters, as long as it can give me the temperatures. I can’t tell you how happy I am to be here. It feels so RIGHT!!!!!!!
Here I am at Check-In – Got my 14 day pass!

Right now I’m having a little trouble, but I’ll keep checking back to get that picture. I took a bunch of pictures yesterday of my site. It was totally level – no leveling needed. This is so cool!!!!
My GMAIL isn’t working right now. I’m hoping it will come back. I can’t get the picture to load. I’ll bring it in later.
I just went for a walk. Looking for other Born Frees. NOT ONE – I’m unique! Did I tell you I love my pour over coffee set up? It’s AMAZING! It is really sunny today. Big blue skies!
We are grabbing a ride to The BIG Tent around noon today, so that will be super. I’ve also hooked up with Carolyn of Carolyn’s RV Life for her Meet and Greet on Monday. She is going to be just up the road near I 10 so I can stop by on my way home on Monday. So excited. I have a map that I’ll put in here when I get connected to downloading pictures. Let me see if I have any luck yet.

Here is my friend Genie’s Rig across from me:

Her Generator was beeping on her and she discovered that she needed oil. So she walked around and one of the women here had a bottle of oil and then this woman came over and helped her put it in the generator. That is what is SO cool about these rallies, there are always women wanting to help one another. The woman also pushed a button and is spewed the oil out of the generator into her face and on her pants. So THAT wasn’t planned. She took it in good spirits though. Then Genie got her genny to work and it hasn’t beeped since.
Here is a picture of the opening day with Phyllis and Yvonne (RV Magazine Editor) giving an overview of the rally. Phyllis is giving Genie and I a ride to the Big Tent and Jeannette is going to pick us up around 3PM.

This is Jeannette’s set up. Reminds me of my first camping with Suzan and Bette and Olivia and Otis: I can’t get that picture to load on, I’ll try it when I get home.
We made it to the BIG TENT:

Here it is inside:

There were 3 aisles with vendors on each side of them. TONS of people and DOGS! I didn’t see anything I really needed. I come to realize that I have everything in Daisy I need. No more space anyway for anything! But there was a bit of a Flea Market outside of the tent and I found these:

Let me see if I can get Jeannette’s rig up here today:

Just came back from coffee with Genie. I’m still running my generator. I want to use my radiator to heat up Daisy. My weather station says it’s 59 in here. Let’s see what Waggle says. Can’t get it to work. So I’ll be back later to add to this. Need to get dressed now. Thanks for visiting.
Beginning again on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Drove home on Tuesday with no wind. So happy I stayed the extra day. It’s 35 here this morning. Really cold! Anyway, on my way out of town I finally got a picture of the Quartzsite Sign:

I’ve decided that I was really happy that I made it to Q this time. Good times with Genie and my new friend Jeannette, but I don’t need to go to the RV show since I’m not looking for a rig. The Big Tent is nothing I need to see and I didn’t get to see the town. Is there really any town? Anyway, I’ll check the weather next year and make a decision based on how cold it is. The generator in Daisy worked like a charm and I was able to plug in my radiator. The furnace worked too which was awesome. The Little Buddy Heater was enough to keep me warm too. But still, it was a bit uncomfortable. I did enjoy the propane fire that Genie provided so I could see the stars after dark. That was good.
One morning I had a good sunrise.

So the wind was really wicked on Monday when I was supposed to leave and I also wanted to go to the Meet and Greet with Carolyn. I was going to do it on my way back home, but I delayed my trip home because of the wind. So I made it out to where Carolyn was meeting people. Here is proof I was there: Love my UGGS by the way!

So that was an adventure. The road out there was terrible but Daisy made it just fine and guess what else – another Born Free:

So that was really funny because I kept asking around the group who had the other Born Free and no one stepped up, so I just left without being able to get a tour. Oh well. At least there was another one out there.
Here is another view of my site out in the desert:

On Sunday we had a memorial service for RVW at Celia’s Garden. There is an area where plaques are made and put on rocks to honor women who have passed. Here is the area:

On the last day, these were my temperatures. It was COLD out there.
I guess that is about all for this blog. It was a really good time. I’m glad I got a chance to go to Q. There are lots of YouTube Videos about the town, so I might research them before I go out again. There may not be any reason to go back, but we’ll see. Thanks for visiting.
I made a couple of videos at Q. Here is the first one:
This is the second one – a little longer of my site:

Hi Mary!
Just now catching up on email backlog & loved your blog with videos on Quartzsite. It was SO cold there! I’ve been to Q twice now & loved it but like you, don’t know if I’ll go again. I loved seeing my little T@B in your video because it got totaled from hail damage when I was in Arkansas last spring. I did replace it with a 2021 T@B 400 Boondock & took that to Alaska on a 3-month trip. Now I’m taking a break from RVing. I plan to follow your blog. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Happy travels!
