Hello everyone. Getting ready to leave 101 heat and go to Show Low where it will be in the 80’s. That’s tomorrow! Right now, Daisy is at home in her new place. We had the cactus removed so that we could keep her in our drive without encroaching upon Jim’s garage. Here she is:

This is what she looks like from the front porch:

I put in a new thermostat in the refrigerator that shows the temperature in the freezer and fridge onto an LED screen. I’ll go take a picture of that now. The A/C is on to keep her cooler than if she was just sitting out in the sun. She is plugged in. I’ll be back to continue this in a bit.
The fridge has the sun beating on it but here is the temperature now:

I turned on the A/C when it was 96 inside. Now it is:

The high in Show Low today was 85. It will be in the 50’s at night – super sleeping weather – no need for A/C. I’ll be hooked up to electric so I can run the A/C for Metaxa during the day if necessary. Hopefully not though. We’ll see.
Starting this again on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. So this morning this was the fridge temps:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this little tool for Daisy. I’m AMAZED!
Made it to Fool Hollow Rec Area in Show Low. It’s cooler here, but is 92 outside and 86 in Daisy. Don’t want to put on the A/C yet. Hope that continues. I did change into shorts though. I’m nestled in the pine trees and it smells glorious. All the sites are back in. I’m in #27 in the Mallard Loop. I’ll get my bike out tomorrow.
I drove up the “inside” way through GLOBE to Show Low. There aren’t many gas stations on this route – not much of anything, but the Salt River Canyon area is unreal. I hope I have some dash cam video and that I can remember how to get it off of the dash cam into this. I’ll try at some point. I left at 9AM and drove right through until 1PM. Filled up Daisy at a Circle K and I hope I’ll get a little money from UPSIDE for it. I hope I chose the right station. Anyway, it was 23 gals for $88.00
Here is Daisy at her one and only stop on the way:

Temp in fridge got warm on the trip here – just running on propane while driving. So this is educating me a lot:

Metaxa rode all the way up here in the storage area under the couch. I wish she would have climbed up above the cab – that is where I thought she was the whole time. But once we stopped and I was at my site she climbed out from behind the couch. I think she is tired:

The road in here was not pleasant – pretty bumpy, but the sites are concrete so I don’t need a rug or any leveling stuff. Totally level!

We have a meet and greet at Mary and Jan’s – Site 2 – at 4:30. I’m going to see if Taxi will nap with me.
I’m going to the fire tonight and leaving my chair at the site where all of the activities will be happening so I don’t have to carry it back and forth. Ate my dinner outside tonight in my camp chair. It’s fun doing that and the temperature is so much better here than in Tucson. It was hot today and I did run the A/C during the heat of the day, but I’m hoping with a 50 degree night it will stay cooler in here tomorrow. But I have electric so it really doesn’t matter. The campground is totally booked. Glad I could get in and I’m in for July too! Gonna bring the Jeep next time.
Lets see if I can put this video in the blog: I finally figured out how to get the video on to YouTube, but can’t think how I did it. It’s uploading and will give you an idea about the drive – it was awesome!
Still processing. I’ll put it in later. So the bike is down from the bike rack and I’m going to ride it around today to get the “lay of the land”. I need a sticker so that is my mission today. I wonder if I have to go out to the main gate. I had to ride to the main gate. I should have waited until I took off on Sunday, but it’s done. The road is so rough! It seams that they put it in as “blocks” or something. They should fix that – the only complaint I have so far. I’m going to go to the group now for a while. I’ll be back.
I went for a short hike around the lake today. Here are some pictures from that:

The water is really dirty. I don’t think I’d like to go kayaking or god forbid swimming!
Today is Friday, June 23, 2023 – Happy 73rd Birthday Jack Murphy!

Found this picture of Daisy at home before the VW broke the pot. Still had the JEEP Sahara.

Metaxa is relaxing!

Took a ride around the campground today so I could get to this:

This is the view from my passenger side window today:

Metaxa decided to survey her surroundings:

Today is Saturday, June 24, 2023. I slept in and didn’t go to my meeting. I could go to the 319 I guess, but we’ll see. I got out of bed at 6:15! Unheard of! Metaxa stayed in bed too! I guess she likes camping also. I went to the AZ site yesterday to look to see which site I have in July, but it wasn’t listed. I guess it’s still in the name of the woman I bought it from. Too bad. It would be nice to scope out my site, but it doesn’t really matter. All of the sites are pretty cool.
I went on a hike this morning and “mapped my walk”. 1.8 miles.

Here are a couple of pictures from the hike:

I did a thing. Hope I don’t regret it. I bought an inflatable kayak. It’s from SEA EAGLE – the best brand according to Elna and Alice. They have had theirs for 21 years. I bought the extended warranty for 6 years. Here is what it looks like:

Taxi on my lap after my hike:

Called the Ranger at Fool Hollow and I may get some money back. NICE!
Today is Sunday, June 25, 2023. We’re leaving today. I’d like to stay but promised Jack I’d come home today so we’ll leave in a bit. It’s 6:45. I’ll probably be going about 9. I think Taxi knows something is up. I hope she’ll stay in the upper bunk for the trip. I’m having trouble with the dashcam staying put on the windshield. I’ll be back! It keeps falling off of the windshield. I may have fixed it this time. We’ll see.
Coffee tastes really good this morning. I missed my meeting and I haven’t exercised yet nor have I meditated so I got things to do before I can leave. I got up at 4:15 this morning and thought about going to the meeting at 5 but decided to sleep a little later and I did that on the couch. It worked. Got up at 6. Life is good.
I’ve enjoyed this weekend. Met some new women and there was a smaller group of us. I helped Sandy with her EBike and she rode it on her own. I talked her in to getting a kayak too so we’ll both try it next month when we come back. I can also hook up with Sue in Green Valley once I get rolling with it. She loves to kayak and has lots of places to go. Patagonia lake is a place I think will be fun to go to with the kayak. Most of the places we go have lakes so that is easy. Plus I could talk Jack into doing it perhaps and it would be something we could do together. Time will tell and more will be revealed!
I’m going to shut this down now and get ready to HIT THE ROAD! Bye for now!
I ordered a life vest for the kayak and I’ve been researching lakes in Tucson. I’ve found 2 so far. It’s pretty hot now so I’m not sure I’ll be testing this until October or so. We’ll see.
