RV Life with DAISEE2 #9 Thursday, February 3, 2022

Good Morning All!  It’s been almost a month since I last blogged.  I guess I just haven’t felt the need to do it.  But today, it’s COLD here in Benson!

Coldest I can remember!

I have a heater on in Daisee2 – it is 48 degrees in her, but I wonder if the pipes under the carriage might freeze and if they do, how would I know?  Anyway, I guess I’ll ask Bill that question!  I haven’t been blogging much.  Maybe it’s because I’m busy in my “new” life.  Jack is keeping me occupied and I don’t have much time to do the blogging, but since it is so cold today, we’re not getting together until a little later and then I’m going to “work” in the office at 11:30.  I volunteer there on Thursdays and Fridays, 11:30 to 3.  It’s fun, but I don’t think I’ll do it next year.  Plus the newest idea for us is to move to Tucson!  Jack really wants to go back because it’s too cold and windy here (I agree) in Benson in the winter.  We also want to have other diversions and since he has lived in Tucson for so long, he isn’t afraid to drive around at night.  There isn’t anything in Benson to do and there is lots to do in Tucson.  My biggest fear is crime.  I’ve noticed most houses in the zip codes we’re considering have bars on the windows and walls around the houses.  I like that for privacy and security so I guess I’ll get used to it.  I’m a bit concerned about how hot it gets in the summer, but hopefully we’ll be traveling in Daisee2 with Otis3 and Metaxa and Odie.  So we did this the other day:

Otis3 is Towable now

We took it to Quality Bumper in Tucson and had a Blue Ox system installed.  So for a little over $4K we can now take him along with us.  I’d like to tow him with us to California in April.  We’re planning on going to the rally with the Born Free group.  I’m missing traveling and camping.  It’s been just too cold to do that.  We have to go back to Tucson to get the break controller.  The one that goes with the system was out of stock so they had another one for us.  Then when we got there, Alex said that the system for the Blue Ox would be available today.  And it would save me $300, so we towed OTIS3 home without it from Tucson.  The hooking up is the same as it was for OTIS2.  So next week, we’ll go get that break controller and we’ll be all set!

So yesterday was Metaxa’s Birthday:  She is 12!

Metaxa and Yellowstone Puzzle

She is actually 10 weeks older than 12 years, but yesterday I got a “memory” notice from FB and I wrote on February 2, 2010 that I was getting a new kitten to add to the family. So I decided to give her the 2nd as her birthday. Happy Birthday METAXA!!!!!!!!!

And speaking of the Yellowstone Puzzle. I finished it – it was really fun – and did this:

Betty Mill’s Frame

Remember this picture frame?  It was around the painting done by Betty Mills that Beirne and I got as a wedding present.  The picture was pretty nice (kind of weird) but the frame was nice.  AND it matched the puzzle just great.  The matting matched perfectly and it was the perfect size.  So it didn’t cost a thing to frame and it looks AMAZING.

The other day I got an email from my across the street neighbor Debbie Block.  She sent me this:

Lucky Daisee2 – Double Rainbow

It is a picture she took of DAISEE2 with a double rainbow over her.  I just got a new photo printer.  The one I moved here stopped working.  So I wanted to be able to print photographs.  Found this KODAK one on line.

New PHOTO Printer

It works great so now I have this picture on the fridge, in DAISEE2 and Jack has one on his fridge also.  Should keep us safe!  A DOUBLE RAINBOW – what are the chances!

So let’s talk about the move to Tucson.  So far we have looked at about 10 properties and they’ve all been rejected for one reason or another.  We need room for a garage to be built so Jack can have a “mancave” with a hot rod in it.  He wants to get another one.  I need DAISEE2 safe and secure and we’d like the truck and JEEP to be undercover out of the sun.    Most of the places we’ve seen have been built in the ’60’s.  I like the brick which is cool.  I found a newer house near Saguaro National Park on the West side of Tucson built in 2018, but I’m afraid the HOA would not allow RV’s in the yard.  I still might try to find that out.  I think I’ll text Rachel to see.  Rachel is a realtor we’ve been in contact with.  I just discovered it is “under contract” now.  UGH!  I don’t think we’ll be fast enough to get anything.  We both have to sell our places here at CT-RV.  Although Rachel indicated there is a “program” for that and she can help us with that.  Then I’m feeling a bit guilty about aceing Rick out of a commission – I need to get over that!  Plus I like the fact that my house is so new – only 3 years old.  Jack’s place has a super front porch with a beautiful view of the mountains.  It’s just too cold to sit out there now.  But in warmer weather it’s just great.  I like the fact that we have the 2 places and he is respectful of my “private” time.  I love that!  At some point, we’ll tell Cathy & Bill about moving and I’m hoping that Rich wants my place for his toys and RV.  Not sure about that but it would make things simpler.

Then the other issue is moving again and melding 2 households together.  Jack doesn’t have as much as I do.  I need to really pare down my “STUFF”!  I did clean up my table in the den.  Mostly paperwork.
