RV Life with Mama & Papa #14 Monday, April 26, 2021

Good Morning Everyone!  It’s Monday, April 26th and life is great here in Arizona.  Our weather has become HOT.  It does say that it’s supposed to rain tomorrow.  It will be interesting to see if that happens.  It hasn’t rained here much in the year that I’ve been here – certainly not like Florida!

Speaking of weather – Bill and Cathy are working at Yellowstone now.  Here is what they are facing:

Setting up the site.

Here is a picture of Cathy working also:

Cathy digs out their home site – notice the Bear Spray!

I guess I’m glad I didn’t go up there with them. Right now, I’m planning to go to Patagonia Lake State Park next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – returning Friday. I’m going to take Metaxa with me. I got my reflectix the other day and I’ve now got the windows all set for this coming summer’s heat. Patagonia Lake State Park is about an hour away from my home. It’s going down State Road 90 south and then west on State Road 82. It’s nice to travel that way rather than on I10 which is really busy with big trucks. So it should be an easy ride. I’ve taken Metaxa in the back seat before for 3 hours, so this 1 hour trip should be fine.

I’m having an issue with my Propane Tanks. This is what they show:

Both Empty????

I know that both tanks are full. I’ve not used any of them much. I did run my refrigerator, but it was on electric. I turn the propane off when Mama Bear is just sitting. There has not been any cooking in there – Susan just ran the furnace a little while she was in there and I’m sure that they couldn’t be empty due to that, but it does make me think I should check the thermostat to be sure is it turned off. I’ll be right back. It was still “on” but it hasn’t been cold enough to run – it was set at the coldest temperature. I really don’t like the thermostat in Mama Bear. It’s really hard to set and read.

So being a person that doesn’t like to wait for answers, I went out to Mama Bear and tested the propane by lighting the stove top (after going out and turning on the tanks after it wouldn’t light – geesh) anyway, the stove top lit and when I went out to check the tanks the gauge was green again. So mystery solved!

I’ve been meaning to add this picture to my blog. It’s the listing of our planned trip to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. It’s over 4000 miles. It’s all dependent on whether Ginger is alive or not. Sounds a bit harsh, but it’s because Susan would need a pet sitter for her at $50 a day. For 23 days, that’s over $1100! So we’ll just do the trip after she doesn’t need a sitter any longer. None of the places we are going are time sensitive – we can do the trip next year.

Trip to Michigan

We have made all of our reservations and will cancel after May 11th – our “drop date” for the trip.  Susan’s son and his friend could still do the trip.  We were going to meet them for about 7 days and go to the summer Lighthouse Tour.  But it will happen again next summer and we can do it then.  If we don’t do this 4000 mile trip, we’d just do shorter runs in Colorado and Montana and Wyoming.  So all is well.  Whatever happens will be fine.

I bought a fountain for Metaxa:

Here is a video I made of it:

Water fountain for Metaxa

I hope she will try it so I don’t need to constantly turn on the faucet for her. Once she figures out what it does, I’ll move it into the living room for her to use. I’m hoping this will get her to drink more often and not make me run the water for her. Time will tell if it works or not. The other one I bought was not discovered by her, but this one may work better. I’ll let you know!
