Good Morning Road Warriors! I’m now writing this from Wisconsin. We are at the Hy-land Court RV Park. Here is our site:

It was a really tight site so Tom backed her in for me. It would have taken me an hour to do it I’m sure and he did it in 5 minutes. He also backed me in at McLain State Park. It’s just easier that way – I know that I should do it myself for the practice, but I have time to practice when I get back to Benson. I’ve rented my extra space for another month so I can hook her up easier.
Here we are side by side:

This trip has been so great. Everything has gone very smoothly. I think I’ll go out and get my log of gas purchases and figure out how many miles I’ve gone – IT’S A LOT! 3,533 MILES ON MAMA & PAPA! Yippee! They have both done SO well this trip. Tom and Lonnie don’t think my truck is “big” enough to pull MAMA, but I googled it and it’s rated as a V6 to tow 7,000 and MAMA is only 4,000 so I’m confident that they are fine. Maybe it would be a struggle up those Colorado mountains, but I might be able to avoid those for now. We’ll see. I have to say Metaxa has been such a trooper. She’s ridden well in PAPA BEAR on our long travel days – like yesterday for 5 hours! And she handles being in the camper on her own pretty well while we go out each day. Today we’re going to go on a boat tour of the Lighthouses in the area. The high today is 70 and we are in the shade as you can see by the picture above. I’ll leave the windows open for her and she should be fine. Now that I have internet service here, I can check the temperature in the rig while we’re gone. I spoke to Barb by text and she said it’s triple digits in Benson. I’m going to look into staying in Flagstaff for the remainder of the summer. I just can’t take that HOT, HOT, HOT temps in Benson. If I go there, I can see Ted and Cynthia. I’m supposed to go to the Grand Canyon in “Sept or August” can’t remember which and it is a weekend with the RVW group from Arizona in Williams, AZ. I signed up for the train trip to the Grand Canyon – looking forward to that. Since it’s only 3 days – I may leave Metaxa at home. It really is simpler.
Here is a picture of our beautiful campfire at McLain State Park. What a beautiful place. I also have a video of Lake Superior that I’m trying to upload. If it works I’ll add that too:
Our fires were at Lonnie and Tom’s site. You can see Mariah in the back ground and I’m on the other side of Mariah.
I’m going to get going now. I’ll add to this after my trip to the lighthouses today. We’re getting ready to take off for the day. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!
The sunrises at McLain State Park were amazing – both days:

Susan and I did get some exercise on our trip. Here we are on a walk along Lake Superior:

Our boat trip today was AMAZING! We went to Gills Rock, WI and took a little boat out to Palm Island and another place. Light houses were there, but they were under repair and covered by tarps to “cure” the paint. It didn’t really matter because the trip was fun and the Captain Jim and Mate Courtney (that is not her name but I can’t get to my phone right now – cat on my lap!). I don’t have a picture of her anyway. But this was the BOAT:

It was a great little boat. There were only about 11 of us on it. Nice group. This is a picture of the Harbor we went out from.

So this is Lonnie and Tom (Susan’s son).

They have been great to be with. Funny and helpful. Their camper is a “pop up”. It doesn’t have much to it but it works for them. I’m just glad I have MAMA and Susan has MARIAH so we all have our own space.
Here is a picture of Susan and me on the boat. I put on my little, tiny jacket that fits in my day pack. It is warm and wonderful and I’m glad I had it even though I look like Old Mother Hubbard in the outfit. Don’t really care – I’m warm and that is all that matters. I saw a weather warning from Benson saying the temperature was 103 to 109 degrees. I sure hope it gets cooler (at least in the 90’s) when I get back. I’m thinking of finding a campsite up “north” in Flagstaff for a month so I don’t have to stay in that heat, although it will be nice to be back home with the full shower and toilet.

So this is one of the islands that we saw on the boat tour. It is called Pilot Island and it has been taken over by the birds (Cormorants, White Pelicans and Sea Gulls). All of the trees are dead and they still need to service the light house and when that happens they wear HAZMAT suits. It’s pretty eerie looking – something out of Alfred Hitchcock.

We also did a ride around Plum Island. It had two lights on it that the sailors line up to make the turn up the lake (Green Bay Lake). The problem was that they were being painted and there was shrouding over it to “cure” the paint. It was still pretty interesting to look at:

There was another Coast Guard Station on Pilot Island – it was pretty cool too.

Here is a picture of Susan and Tom on the dock:

He is about 53 I think. Actually her step son – although she raised him. Nice guy – a little rough around the edges but sweet and kind. And BOY can he back a trailer. Fortunately, I’ll be getting “pull throughs” for the rest of the trip. Thank you GOD!
Here is another great picture of Lonnie. Just a really GREAT guy! He’s 9 years younger than me and isn’t retired yet. Still working and will, he says for 6 more months. We’ll see how that goes. He used to run his own flooring business and now is in “flooring” in Home Depot in their town in Michigan. He is very talented and loves music and is really helpful with computers. It’s been great being with both of them on this trip. We are now friends on FB so we can follow each other.

And here is the final picture for this days blog. I’m done now. It’s time to “spy” on my new neighbors from my bed. It’s about time to settle in for the night. Lonnie and Tom are leaving tomorrow at 7AM to drive back home. Susan and I don’t leave until Sunday so we have another day. I have to go back to the Scandinavian shop at the dock to buy another tray for my shoes at the door of MAMA BEAR. They are the perfect fit! SO EXCITED!

Oh, just one more. This is the GREAT restaurant we went for lunch – rather than dinner – that was recommended by a guy on our boat today. He was RIGHT! They really know how to fry fish. It was the lightest fried perch I’ve ever had. It was SO GOOD and worth $25 and we were practically the only ones there and the town was packed!

I may start another blog again tomorrow. Not sure. Time will tell. Come back again! Thanks for visiting.
