RV Life with Mama & Papa #37 Sunday, September 26, 2021

Good Morning Everyone!  So, I’m on the search for a camper van.  I talked with Bill and Cathy last night and they think that is the way for me to go.  I agree.  I love Mama & Papa, but in the long term, I want more “creature comforts”.  This means I want to drive easily, park easily and have a comfortable chair to sit in.  Of course I need a bathroom and a comfortable bed of course, but we’ve decided my Mama is thrown together quickly and cheaply.  The upper shelf is coming off the wall, which I need to go and get fixed under warranty.  So my project for now is to clean her out and only have stuff in there that I’ll use on weekend trips.  I have too much stuff in there and I’ll put the overage into my storage trailer.  I need to clean it up so I have room to put those things.

Went to the trash this morning and saw this on my way home:

I think it may be a black widow.  I’ve never seen on in the open before.  Yikes!  I think it’s a tarantula, not a black widow!

This picture doesn’t do the color justice – it was SO RED!

I’ve decided against getting a camper van. I contacted a woman through FB that was selling her Coachman Crossfit. 2019. She wants $95K for it. If I was to buy a new one it would be $150K. Anyway, we chatted back and forth on Messenger – she is in NM near Albuquerque. It would be doable to drive up there to check it out. After chatting with her I asked her why she wanted to trade for a TT. I offered her mine as a trade in. Anyway, her reason was that she just wanted to be able to leave the camper and explore in her truck. After speaking with Suzan and her experience with a Roadtrek, we came to the conclusion that what I’m doing is better for me. I just need to hook her up and take her out more often and back her into her spot etc. So to that end, I’ve reserved 3 nights at Kartchner next week. I’ll unhook Papa and travel back home periodically during the time to check on Metaxa – not taking her with me this time. I want to test out my personal GPS on a hike and do a little hiking there. I feel safe doing it alone at Kartchner. So my plan now is to remove the bench seat in Mama and replace it with a chair that will swivel and be more comfortable. I think that will help a lot. Plus Mama may not be built as well as older RV campers are, but she’ll do for me for the rest of my camping career – I believe. But you never know! More will be revealed!

My neighbor Barb is having her house painted YELLOW! I love it!
