Hello Everyone,

So this morning I’m trying to figure out the weather.  It looks like it is going to rain a lot today and then I heard it should finally cool down for tomorrow morning.  I am SO looking forward to the cooler weather.  I am kind of tired of the hot, humid stuff we’ve had all summer and a friend from work is going to Chicago and it’s supposed to be in the 40’s when she is up there.  That is TOO cold for me, but I could really go for some 60-70’s temperatures.

My plan is to catch up on some IG work.   I have money to deposit for Corrections and I have some website work to do and I want to make up a flyer for work that we are doing to advertise a “Bake” sale to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.  I’ve committed to walk in the walk that is at Fleischmann Park on Saturday, November 15th.  It’s the same day as the Gratitude Dinner, but it’s a 2 mile walk so it should be over by 10 or 11.  Moorings Park has decided to get involved with this too.  We will have a table there and the goal for this year is $50,930 and as of yesterday they were at $13,025.  There is a long way to go, but their website is pretty awesome and well organized.  I got involved early on in April and was able to get my family and friends to donate $500.  I kept raising my total.  I originally started with $100 and then $250 and then up to $500.  I’m done now – I’ve been initiated into the 2014 “Champions Club”.  I have my certificate and everything.  It’s all on my page, which you can access here:  (I think I did this right – I’ll have to check it later)

So now I need a little more coffee and check the laundry – typical Saturday morning things.

Domino is have a “fit” this morning.  He’s been wanting to go out on the porch since about 6 this morning.  I finally let him out about 7:30 and he’s all “riled” up.  He is hissing and meowing and twitching his tail.  The last time he got like this, my Cat Whisperer Jackie said it was probably because there was a “feral” cat spraying around the house.  So I’m keeping all of the cats in for today until he settles down.  Metaxa is afraid of him when he is like this and Wylie just hisses back and goes to sleep under the bed.

So as you know, I’m in the “market” for a new lighter computer.  I found one at Walmart:

Acer Aspire Switch SW5-011 with WiFi 10.1″ Touchscreen Tablet PC:
Technical Specifications:

  • 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z3745 Quad-Core processor
  • 2GB LDDR3 of system memory
  • 10.1″ touchscreen, 1366 x 768 resolution
  • White Acer Aspire tablet featuring Windows 8.1 has built-in 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth v4.0 + HS

Additional Features:

  • Front 2MP webcam with microphone
  • Windows 8.1 tablet has a microUSB 2.0 port, HDMI port, headphone/microphone combo port
  • 64GB onboard storage memory, additional memory via microSD card slot
  • Accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope
  • 2-cell lithium-polymer battery
  • Weighs 1.29 lbs; 10.3″ x 0.4″ x 7.0″ dimensions

Software and Applications:

  • White Acer Aspire tablet featuring Windows 8.1 32-bit Edition
  • Media Formats: popular media formats

What’s in the Box:

  • Acer Aspire Switch SW5-011 with WiFi 10.1″ Touchscreen Tablet PC, battery and AC adapter

It only costs $370 – best price I’ve seen so far and in the “ballpark”  It converts from a laptop to a tablet and is a touch screen.  Only weighs 1.29 lbs.  It has 64GB of memory – REALLY?  That should really be plenty for me.  So my questions are whether it comes with Microsoft Office which is something I really need.  But I could get that later because I have this computer now and the “old” desktop until it dies.  I’ve got my “feelers” out for some feedback on this to Steve and Michael.

Well off to a meeting this morning.  Can’t make the Noon meeting so will try to make this one.  Have a great day everyone.

First things first! Acer Switch looks good, and it IS a pretty white. See NOT A THING wrong with it, and lotta good! I think you are “sold”. I was instructed by Office Max store manager to wait for Black Friday, for several reasons, price being the least of them. So I AM going to wait (with GREAT patience).

Mary, I FULLY expect you to own an Acer by Sunday. And it will serve you well.

I forgot what ELSE you wrote about–grin!

Well, thought I had SENT this comment…but did not…and now realize you have bought an ASUS…a really EXCELLENT price, with all goodies. Maybe I’ll get to see it during a work session.

Hey I LIKE THAT PAGE Walk to End Alzheimers. OK… I’m “in” for 25. Did you say cooler weather coming? That’s “cool”.
    Have a “purrrring” day.

    Bye.

I’m commenting from my new ASUS laptop/tablet. I set up Kindle and Netflix. I haven’t done much else, but download Google Chrome. After the BB meeting I’m going to play with the tablet component. I think it comes loaded with Office Home/Student. Not quite sure about that but will know something before you get here on Sunday. So far I LOVE IT! Remember that I want to see how things go on your FB when you see stuff from me. I never saw the Alzheimer thing I thought I sent there this morning and if you contributed like you said, I’ll have to see about that notice also since I haven’t run across it yet. But I’m sure I will and that is wonderful of you. That can be your “Act of Kindness” and it will benefit so many more than me!
