Good Morning Everyone,
So this morning I’m thinking about a few things. First of all it is the apostrophe. When do you use it and when do you not use it? I was an English minor in College – Marietta College – 1969 – 1973. I didn’t make wonderful grades in college but I squeaked by and graduated on time with only one Summer School session. I really like Summer School. I took African History and the professor was really cute and nice. He never gave us a test – we just got a grade. I passed. I forget what else I took that summer, but it was easy. Anyway, I digress. Back to the apostrophe. I have a colleague at work that “always” gets it wrong. She puts “Birthday’s” rather than the plural “Birthdays” and throws in that little troublemaker all over the place. We have a LOT of very intelligent residents who all graduated from college so they scrutinize EVERYTHING – grammar being one of their favorites. So she has me “proof” her flyers. She came to me the other day and asked for my advice about one of her assistants making flyers without regard to “proofing”. This woman went to school in Everglades City many years ago and her “grammar” skills are a little lacking, but she hands out poorly written flyers to the residents and that doesn’t “fly” if you know what I mean. We all get busy and don’t always “catch” our errors, but we try. Anyway, I told her she just needs to tell her that it’s great she wants to make up flyers, but that they need to be “proofed – approved” first. It isn’t going to be an easy conversation because in our world, this woman (the Everglades woman) used to be this other woman’s boss when they worked together at The Chateau. I just thought about that. That’s GOT to be weird! Look at the use of the apostrophe in that sentence! Okay now on to other things.
Did you know that you can cut the cost of a cup of coffee made in a Keurig in half by flipping the little pod around and getting another cup? The second cup is a little weaker, but still has great flavor. This is my helpful hint for Tuesday!
OK so now for some pretty exciting news. Yesterday I got a text at work from my Pastor and he wanted a “bunch” of us to go look at a building off of Immokkalee Road that is for sale. I’m thinking – sure would like to see a move closer to my area and this is way farther away than where we are now. So I said I’d like to come to see the building and we all swarmed the place at 4:30PM yesterday. Mind you, this is a church that last Sunday had 37 people in the congregation! So when 12 of us went to the place yesterday, that was a pretty good showing. ANYWAY, the place is located at 5668 Strand Court. It is a little enclave of individual office buildings. Lots of different businesses, but no “Sunday” traffic to speak of. So that is a positive. I made a “tactical” error and drove up Goodlette to Immokkalee and traveled down to Strand Blvd on Immokkalee. Bad traffic at that time so I wasn’t really happy about that. So after driving around a little I had to call Michael to get “walked in” and finally found the place. Another “issue”. So here is the current floor plan:
So we’re disrupting business all over the place, there are 2 Realtors (plus my realtor who is a member of our church) and little kids (our twins of Jamie and Lynn in their pajamas), Michael and his wife Trudy – who by the way flew up to NYC last week with the family (3 kids) and got married in City Hall. I just got a little report on that. But more shall be revealed – it’s pretty cool though when you think about it. Then JB tells us he just got fired from the school district (he was working part time as a cook) – he’s retired, plus his house is going into foreclosure and will be put up on “the block” this week, so his life is tumbling down – his attitude is just – it’s in God’s hands and everything will work out. If I had a little larger place I’d invite him to live with me. He’s a great cook and he’s gay – perfect combination for a roommate if you ask me! OK so I’m thinking will this work? Lot’s of wall removal, but it could work and if we “grow”, there will always be open buildings in this complex – you know how business is in this town – here today, gone tomorrow. But I’m just thinking – signage – it was a little difficult to see what all of the buildings said on them and what their businesses were. But the good news – Skillets is just across the street at the Publix shopping center – plus Publix is right there and I think Michael said Walmart was somewhere around there – I didn’t see that. But it could be an exciting prospect.
Anyway – I’m out of time AGAIN. Have a beautiful day! (I guess I’ll continue to do this every morning) never did get into that habit of a 10th Step in the afternoon BLOG.

Looking for a “church home” can be–IS exciting adventure, and it really brings the Peeps together. Good. It’s the way AA people should go looking for a new meeting place. HA! Can you imagine a
dozen alkies each with their VERY own ideas, trying to settle on a choice? BEDLAM!
Richard surely knows about risks in taking down inside walls, e.g., only if they are not weight-bearing, or we end up walking on a roof (which used to be the floor!!!)
Apostrophe.
Give this link to the girl who is apostrophe-challenged. It explains in “cute” way when to use….
