RV Life with DAISEE2 #85 Thursday, March 21, 2024

Good morning everyone. Today is Thursday, March 21, 2024 and it is the second day of SPRING. It is beautiful here in MESA. SO glad we moved here. I just LOVE THIS LITTLE HOUSE!

Last night I unplugged Daisy from shore power and turned on the propane to run the refrigerator. I wanted to simulate Boondocking. This morning when I went out to check on her, the batteries were at 12.5. That is great and the fridge was perfect. So I shut off the propane and plugged her back in to shore power – our new 30 AMP connection. Remember this:

The installation of my 30 Amp connection for Daisy. I am so happy that we can store her right by the house. I can walk out to her at anytime and visit. My next trip isn’t until April 10th. We’re going to Roper Lake. I don’t think I’m going to take Metaxa with me this time. I will probably be able to kayak this time. I will have electric at my site. Anyway, now that I have the new batteries, and they are working overnight without losing much power and the fridge worked, I feel much better about traveling. Let me see if I can get a map of my journey to Roper from Mesa rather than Tucson, or Benson.

So Jack was right. It’s going through Apache Junction, Green Valley & Globe on to Highway 60 from the 202 and then Highway 70 to Safford. I’m excited about this trip. It is 150 miles one way. A perfect distance – I can make it there without stopping. I might offer to be the facilitator for this trip. I’ll be there from Wednesday, April 10 to Sunday the 14th, I have a reservation through that Sunday, but I’ll be leaving a day early. The group is going to Kartchner on Monday the 15th. I sold that portion of the trip. Bill and Cathy will be up in Yellowstone by then. They leave on the 29th of March this year. It’s early for them to leave – there WILL BE SNOW!!!

Now this is interesting. I got a text from a woman named Pat Bullard and she is looking to hook up with some RVW folks. She lives here in Mesa and has been traveling in a van SOLO. She joined RVW and wants to join our Chapter. I’m going to meet her for coffee today. It’s great because Jack has a pulled muscle and is in a bit of pain and I don’t do well with that sort of thing. Never said I’d be a good nurse. Anyway, it should be fun. I reached out to Genie too. Haven’t heard back from her though. We’ll see how it goes. Genie had other plans.

I took a picture of my new fancy batteries:

Met Pat at Starbucks – enjoyed her company and she bought!

She moved here 1 year ago from Montana. She has a Winnebago Revel ($165K) on a Mercedes Chassis. She lives in a 55+ community and is 81 years old. She drives a Forerunner. She is very nice. She is going to try to get to ROPER or Kartchner. She just sent me a picture of her rig: LOOKS SO COOL!

Winnebago REVEL – Pat Bullard. Based on the price of her rig, I’d bet it cost more than her park model!

Just got word that our blinds will be installed on Monday. Can’t wait!

This is the spot we used for one of the Western paintings and my Arsenaults. Perfect wall for them:

This was my 15th Walk

We couldn’t find Ziggy yesterday. Here he was:

He is such a character!!!

Today is Monday, March 25, 2024. We’re waiting for the blinds to be installed today:

They arrived at 9:45 and were done at 11:30. Here they are:

They look really good. The color is perfect! Only problem is that the blind at the head of the bed and the one in the Livingroom has to be replaced. The chain mechanism is too long. They can not shorten it which is something they need to address in their design. There is NO REASON why they can’t shorten it “on the job”. Anyway – they are going to lose a lot of money on this job. They have to do a completely new headrail. That is too bad! But not our problem. I just hope that Ziggy doesn’t destroy the blind before they get a chance to replace it. Time will tell. I really like them though!

Zena has a new hang out. She can watch the birds in our Saguaro:

AND miracles do happen:

I have figured out a 2 mile route to walk.

I bought a birdfeeder from a garage sale the other day. It hangs from a chain, but I took the chain off and I’m just putting on the ground in the backyard. Today, this happened:

Reminds me of the pheasants that used to come to our birdfeeder in Connecticut when I was a kid!

Today is Friday, March 29, 2024. Bill and Cathy are leaving Benson to stop by here on their way to Yellowstone. They have to leave early this year for some reason, I’ll have to ask them that question. But I bet they will see a lot of snow on the way. Better them than me! I don’t ever want to drive in snow again.

I was looking back on some of my posts on this website – back in 2015. So this is how I stayed sober back then:

So yesterday I started thinking about all of the things I’ve got going this year.  The Grapevine, Webmaster, Secretary of District, Vice Chair of The Naples Group, Treasurer of Corrections and now a commitment to work at Intergroup on Fridays (beginning this Friday) from 4PM to 7PM – if that doesn’t keep me sober, I don’t know what will.  Oh yea, I’m involved with Sister’s By The Sea also this year and I’ll be going to Atlanta in July!  So buckle your seat belt – it’s gonna be an interesting ride!

I started doing this blog in 2014. I wanted to learn a new skill because I was going to be the Webmaster for Intergroup. I had no clue, but learned how to do it and have been doing it since then – 10 YEARS!!!!!!!

Found a better campground in Flagstaff – better than the KOA. Here it is. I’ll try to get there this summer (probably July – not RVW rallies that month).

Today is Saturday, March 30, 2024. Everyone is excited about the total eclipse happening on April 6th (I think), and lot’s of people are going to Texas to watch it. I’d do that, but I’m leaving on the 10th for Roper Lake with RVW. Can’t wait. I’m planning to go to Patagonia Lake also at the end of April. 2 trips in one month. Gonna make up for no trips in July – or maybe I’ll try that place in Flagstaff. Anyway, I’m anxious to take DAISEE2 out now that I spent so much money on her new battery set up. I hate to have her just sitting. She needs to GO CAMPING!

Bill and Cathy came by yesterday, they are on their way to Yellowstone for 7 months. It’s a bit early for them to leave this year, but they love it up there, so I’m sure it’s a good thing for them. Anyway, they made reservations at Usery Mountain Regional Park – the place we visited last week. They sent pictures of their site. They said they love it there and I can see why! We’ve vowed to meet up there next year – we’ll see if that happens!

This is only 10 minutes down the road from us and it’s a whole different world. I think I want to go over there and do some hiking. That will be my “Saguaro National Park” equivalent!
