RV Life with DAISEE2 #89 Thursday, April 25, 2024.

Good Morning Everyone. I thought I would start a new blog about my Patagonia Lake State Park Rally with RVW.

Entrance to Patagonia Lake State Park!

It’s been an interesting “rolling rally”. The first stop was Roper Lake which I attended and enjoyed immensely. I got to kayak twice. It was fun! Then the next leg – which I signed up for and then sold to someone – was at Kartchner State Park in Benson. I’m sure that one was fine – Linda Terres facilitated it. So then the next leg was to Tombstone. I never wanted to go to that one because I couldn’t imagine an RV Park down there worth going to. Genie said it was “OK” but not much shade. Others said the park was a bust. The thing with that one was that Marge Carrithers was supposed to facilitate, but her RV caught on fire (2016 Thor Chateau!!) and she couldn’t facilitate! Then the last leg was here at Patagonia Lake State Park. Meg was supposed to facilitate, but Carline got sick and they had to leave. That left the burden of facilitating to Karen Borowski again! So ladies are leaving early – Marie yesterday, Cindy and Tina today so we’re dwindling in size. But I think it is also a long time (16 days) to travel with the same people. There were some people who came to a couple of stops (like me) but of the 11 that did all 4 stops there aren’t very many left – they just got tired. I know I would have. Next year they are planning (with the help of the Rocky Mountain Group) a 21 day rolling rally. I might go to the first leg which will be in Willcox, AZ somewhere. The other stops are Deming, NM, Alamagordo, and then White Sands National Park. That was where I went with Susan a couple of years ago. So I don’t see any reason to continue with it. Plus it would be a long way back to MESA from White Sands. Now I’m confused. We went to the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, not White Sands. New Mexico was closed due to COVID when we were traveling, so that was why we chose the Great Sand Dunes National Park instead.

So back to this rally!

This is the video I took of the guy vacating my site:

Here is a map of this great LAKE:

You can see it is a great lake for kayaking. I am too lazy to blow up my kayak today (Thursday) so I think I’ll just ride my bike to the trail. I’ll walk that one. Maybe I can convince someone else to do it with me. Not a big deal if not. Yesterday when I was with Karen at her site, this happened:

It was the prettiest Red Bird – not a cardinal.

We went to Patagonia yesterday for lunch to The Velvet Elvis. GREAT little restaurant! Apparently they have a few very good restaurants in this little town. Jack used to ride his Harley down to Patagonia with friends “in the day”.

This was in their bar:

Then of course the “STAR” – right by our table!

That is the top of Karen’s head!

I’m beginning this again on Friday, April 26, 2024. These are our temps this morning:

I didn’t sleep all that well last night. Our neighbors started a HUGE campfire last night. Then at 3:00AM they started another one. They are pretty weird. Glad I’m leaving today – they are dangerous. This campground is a little “sketchy”. There are no camp hosts so the Rangers need to do everything. But they don’t do much. My campfire still has the beer can in it from the last guy or the guy before him – who knows. Anyway, they are planning to come back here for Thanksgiving. I won’t make that one. Not sure what we will do about Christmas and Thanksgiving, now that we are 3 hours away from Benson. We may need to start new traditions. More will be revealed.

We went to a cool little place yesterday. It was a Hummingbird sanctuary. It was really great and there were lots of people there enjoying the birds. I took some pictures, but they are not very close up but perhaps you can see the birds. There were so many!

Next to the Welcome Center they had a little garden with bird feeders and rose bushes. This one was really in Bloom!

Dick sent me the latest ROXIE picture – so cute:

My Hike at Patagonia Lake:

We’re anticipating a slab install for Daisy in a week or so, so DAISEE2 is now here:

Yesterday Zena turned 1 year old!

She is the sweetest cat EVER. Such a great addition to the family. She is funny too when she flops down and insists on bellyrubs – but only for as long as she wants it which is about 10 seconds, but it’s cute anyway.

I decided to cancel my trip to Sharp Creek. When the new slab is installed it will only be about 16 days cured, and it needs at least 21 days so I didn’t want to risk cracking it. But the next rally is at Canyon Point on June 13-16. Let me see where that is. It’s only 2 hours away in the Tonto National Forest. Should be cooler up there – I hope. Let me see what the elevation is. 7500 FEET! YAY! Here is a description of it:

Looks like the perfect place to be in JUNE!

We just got back from Usery Mountain Regional Park and I bought a yearly pass for $60. $20 off because I’m old. It allows you entrance into all of the Maricopa Regional Parks and there are a bunch. I didn’t know White Tanks was one of them – there are 21K acres there! Anyway, I plan to do some exploring of these parks from home this summer. Let me see if I can get the directions to White Tanks:

RVW has been there twice that I know of and I haven’t gone once. Next time I’m going for sure!

Today is Monday, April 29, 2024. Almost MAY! Time is flying by!

We’re getting our mailbox installed today and the prep for the slab tomorrow!

Beginning this again on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. I saw this cool flower on my walk this morning!

It was at my neighbor’s yard. Just beautiful.

We’re getting our slab set up today. We may get the concrete tomorrow. Right now we are at this point:

I’m going to try to take a video of the slab being poured tomorrow. Remember this one?

It took them 17 minutes start to finish. We’ll see how this one goes!

This is what the side yard looks like waiting for the concrete:

It’s much bigger than the slab I had put by the carport in Benson. It will probably take longer to do. I might try to film it from inside of DAISEE2. I’ll keep you posted!

Taxi and I are waiting for the concrete:

Here we go:

And more:

Finished the job at 11AM – began at 7 – Lolo was here at 6:15! Very impressive!

When we can’t find Ziggy – look here:

Copy the link below and see me trying to decide to make a decision to sell out and move out here, while blogging in OLIVI@. It’s a HOOT!

As you know, Jack has wanted to change out our mailbox. It took a while but we finally found one online that works. Here it is on our new post:

It’s completed now and just waiting for the paint job. One less thing to do!

I have found my walking path now. It is 2 miles round trip. Takes me about 40 minutes to complete.

Saw this great Cactus Flower today:

Mailbox just needs painting now:
