#360 Good Morning Thursday, November 9, 2017

Good Morning World,

So I am now officially back in the work force.  I’m working at FRESH MARKET.  It seems like a pretty great place to work.  I must say that I’m excited and nervous at the same time.  But before I forget, here I am on my first day of work:

First day Nov. 8, 2017

Pam took this picture of me yesterday.  The first day at work was great.  I sat and did the Orientation tapes.  Learned a lot and found out I didn’t know all that much about hand washing when handling food.  I had to take the test twice.  I think I know now, but I don’t think I’ll need to worry about that until I move to a different department, if I do that.  So the register is a little tricky.  Mainly because there is a lot of PLU’s to put in because there is so much “FRESH” stuff.  Anyway, I worked with Christopher who is a “mini” manager – he has the “keys to the kingdom” and can give out refunds and he puts the money in the safe.  I’ll be going in today for my second day of training at the registers.  It is hard to read the keys, but I’m sure it will get routine after a while.  Chris says I’ll memorize the PLU #s because they repeat so often.  Anyway, I’m excited.  One of the things I really like about the place is the lighting.  Very complimentary for “older” people.  It is not like other stores.  The ambiance is really nice.  The background music is nice also.  I think Lucky’s tries to be like FRESH MARKET, but it is a little different.  I just don’t feel the “love” there like I do at FRESH MARKET.  When Lucky’s came to Naples, I applied there to work – wanted part time, but never heard from them.  So I think GOD worked with me on this.  I think this was meant to be.  There is really nothing better than be called back in to an interview situation and then ultimately get a job.  I think I’ll learn to love it after a few days of training and getting used to the pace.  I was pleasantly surprised that Michael offered $10 an hour, but Geoff gave me $10.50, so I already got a raise!  I am what is called a “seasonal employee”.  So when season is over, I’ll be one of the ones to be let go.  That is ok by me.  They have an awesome website.

My schedule so far is work Weds 9:30 to 1:30.  Today: 9:30 to 2:30.  Probably Friday too for more training (I need to remember I work Intergroup in the AM).  Then a real shift on Saturday, 10 to 3 and then Sunday, 11 to 5 which will be a “demonstration” day and I hand out samples all day long.  That should be interesting.  I met the scheduler Casey.  I’d be interested in knowing how he does the schedule.

Well I have to get going.  I may be back.  Thanks for visiting.
