Good Morning Friday, September 19, 2014

Hello World,

I am Happy, Happy, Happy today!  It’s Friday and I have a free weekend to do anything I want – no commitments – except maybe a meeting or two and then church on Sunday, but other than that, I’ll be doing laundry and cleaning my house.  I spoke to Red this morning and she said she wants to go for a ride – we’ll see how the weather goes – it’s supposed to rain, but that could change.

I bought an extension ladder a while back and I really want to climb up to clean out my gutters.  I’m going to see if I conveniently run into my neighbor and see if he has any interest in cleaning his gutters and maybe we could do it together.  I’m also obsessing about the care of my kitties when I’m in Atlanta next July.  I know it’s a LONG way away, but it’s important to me to be sure they are taken care of.  I’d like to “strike” up a relationship with my neighbors because having them come over would be the best solution – since they are connected to me.  But I’m going to have to make the first move I think.  They aren’t overly friendly – but we really don’t see each other all that much, which is amazing to me since we share a common wall.  I’ve come to realize that this is a nice neighborhood, but we don’t do “yard work” or see each other all that much.  There are the “dog walkers” and I think I could latch on to one of them (at least they would be animal lovers) – not the guy with Penny – he is on the Board and I’m only supposed to have 2 cats and I have 3, so he is “out” although his name is Chris and he’s really nice.  He had both knees replaced a while back so his “walking” the dog is also therapeutic for him.  When I walk in the mornings before work, I run in to him.  He and his dog are early risers.  Since Ron and Deb will be in Atlanta – I thought about them taking care of the cats but that won’t work but I know Deb would if she were home.  Of course my other stand by Jackie is going to Atlanta too.  So I’m trying to see who might like to “stay in my house” while I’m gone.  But that is a little problematic too.  So I know it will work out.  Some how!

I had my Grapevine Meeting yesterday.  Sherri and Roy were there with me.  We didn’t have a “lot” of business to attend to, but I had a teaching moment about the website at aa.org and how the calendar works on the aanaples.org website so at least there will be two members that can spread the word about that.  They both go to a lot of meetings – Sherri goes to PPG and Roy goes all over town.  Believe it or not, he walked down to the Central Office from the 24 Hour Club to get to our meeting.  AMAZING!  I was ‘humbled” by that.  He said his motorcycle is in the shop and he hopes to have it available soon but at least before our next meeting in October.  Roy seems to be a “good guy”.  He helped me at the Rock & Roll Recovery Bash, the Founder’s Day Event and also he cooked at the picnic.  He is active with the Naples Group and I gave him a ride to the Cookie Meeting last night after our meeting.  (I know….I should have gone to the meeting too, but it was only 7PM and the meeting didn’t start until 8 – but there were a lot of people there already at 7 when I dropped him off).  I don’t think he works so his money is limited, but he’s been sober less than a year I think, but seems to be “involved”.  Of course, that is what it takes!  Getting involved and getting active.  I think he had a “stint” at St. Matt’s.

Did I mention that I went to the “retail” shop at St. Matt’s the other day?  I’d been wanting to check it out for a while since they took over the car dealership.  I was pretty impressed by their store.  It’s HUGE.  They sort all of the clothes by label which I think is interesting.  I ended up getting a couple of shirts.  Real cheap – $5 and $8.  When I got one of them home, I noticed stains on it, that I didn’t see at the store so I “recycled” that one, but the other shirt seems fine.  I think I’ll go back there and see about “volunteering”.  I’ve been thinking about going to the “Burning Desire” meeting.  I know Bill goes to it and so does Polly on occasion.  I think it’s at a good time 7PM on Tuesdays.  I think I can make that meeting, but I really think that my best bet to get to other meetings is to do the “gym” thing at 4 and then make it to the 24 Hour Club at 5:30.  I’m getting close to that.  Maybe next week.  I should try to go to more meetings.  You know what they say…….”meeting makers make it”.

Well time’s up for today.  Seize the Day!  Have a great one!

One time I was at a meeting (at 24-Hr) during which a few words of disagreement quickly turned into a full-blown brawl. One group said, “Meeting Makers Make It” and other group said, “Step Takers Make It”. I stayed out of that melee. Being new, I thought maybe BOTH are correct. During subsequent years I’ve known at least THREE alcoholics who stayed alcohol-free for many years with neither meetings nor steps. NONE of these were the “happiest people”, I can tell you that–grin!

I too love Fridays, even though not committed to a 7-5 job…It’s in the DNA. Of course, behind the bar, the worst day of a given year was Friday night which happened in coincidence with full moon. PANIC time!

Always I forget to ask you what is PPG…a gym? (sigh)
Well, as Richard R. writes: “Ignorance comes not out of what we don’t know. Ignorance results from what we THINK WE DO KNOW. Hmmmm!

And yes, your gutters should surely be cleaned before the winter snow blows.

Burning Desire at St Matt’s is good meeting, IMO, plenty long-timers attend, and I’ve found it a good farm to acquire someone to sponsor.

Enjoy the weekend Mary, and all that God promises and/or puts in front of you to do.

IMO…In My Opinion, usually written as, IMHO (Humble thrown in there–I don’t like myself to use the word “humble” in a trivial manner.

Thanks for PPG, I had it translated every which way except correctly–grin!

No new iPhone for me–VERY happy with my Samsung. I cannot figure why same people who might complain about being in a line at Costco or Publix, get out there and wait to be FIRST-Day buyers for another phone, and not cheap either. HAPPY WEEKEND, Mary!
    Bye
