RV Life with DAISEE2 #61 Saturday, August 12, 2023

Hello Road Warriors! It’s Saturday, August 12, 2023 and I’m heading out to Flagstaff tomorrow for 2 nights at the KOA there. I may extend to 3 nights – we’ll see how I feel. I doubt there will be a problem booking another night. We’ll see. ANYWAY…… I picked up DAISEE2 from storage this morning and took her to the Circle K for gas. Needed 26 gallons:

First Gas in DAISEE2 on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

Sidebar: Found this great picture of my sweet Metaxa:

Relaxing!

Here is DAISEE2 at the Circle K on Speedway and Houghton:

Love the ROUTE 66 license plate on front!

I took a video of the trip down Bonanza to home. I’ll get it from YouTube!

She looks bigger than Daisy BF. Let me get a picture of the BF Rear. I couldn’t find one so we can’t compare them, but I think it’s because DAISEE2 is so “boxy”.

Suzee is trying to get a “side gig” and has come up with this: it’s from her work in the Paint Dept of HD in Ashville.

Jack is so great. He waxed the front end so bugs won’t stick and he checked the OIL and Air Pressure so I know I’m safe to “hit the road”! I left at 8:20 AM and got to FLAGSTAFF KOA at 2:30. Two stops at rest areas.

Pre check clean and oil and tire pressure.

First pit stop just before Phoenix.

Next stop was for lunch. It was only 45 miles from my destination, but I needed to walk a little, eat and pee so it was a good thing too:

Such a pretty rig! It doesn’t sound like DAISY BF while driving. Can’t really say what it is. Just a bit quieter and seems to have a lot more power. Daisy BF really rattled. DAISEE2 has some small rattles, but it is my “stuff” hanging. I don’t think the stove top rattled much, but I have a swim noodle to put there if necessary.

I’ve discovered that with all of the USB ports in here, I don’t need to bring my “tower” any longer. That is why I’m doing this little trip. To discover things like that. My WiFi is working really well right now – even with the rain. It is now 70 degrees outside and 77 inside. Still raining at 4:45PM. It’s been raining for about an hour.

Got hit by a rock or something on the way here. Cracked the windshield. The picture looks like it has a hole in it, but it isn’t a hole – just a crack:

Here I am at arrival in Flagstaff at the KOA;

I’m in the pine trees. OH NO! I’ll need it washed and waxed sooner than I wanted. Good thing I know a guy!

I’m in a back in site. This place is huge. Looking forward to walking around a little now that the rain has stopped. It’s 5:15 PM. My site number is 60. Here I am all levelled up:

AND look at this:

Can’t get any better than that! Jack couldn’t believe I wanted this installed for leveling. Works great! Put it on the dash by the cup holders. PERFECT location!
The first of I hope MANY stickers and magnets! Gonna go for a short walk for a bit. I’ll be back!

Went for a walk around the campground. I love it even though it is in the pine trees. I think I may need a wash sooner than I wanted. But we’ll see. Jack can do some magic! Went looking for some Chateaus (now that Daisy BF is not in the picture). Saw 2 of them here. One older than mine but similar in the style: I’m having trouble with pictures right now. I’ll keep trying. ANYWAY, it was a beige one and I couldn’t tell if it had a slide or not. The second one was longer and white. Not sure about a slide on that one either.

The picture worked this time. Let me get the other one now:

This one is white and longer than mine. See where the door is and that window between it and the passenger side?

Lots of families with kids and dogs here. Guess that is the way for them to entertain themselves on the “cheap”. This KOA does NOT have a pool and I’m very glad about that. There is some kind of a playground with a jumping pillow or something for the kids. Also they rent little bikes for kids to ride around on.

Look at this……they have a “Metaxa” here – male camp cat: Noisy like Metaxa:

Male Metaxa crying for treats! SO Funny!

I texted Mary Mays about the new rig and sent her this picture:

I’m hooked up to the City Water here. Using the bright green hose she told me to buy. Got it connected without any leaks. SO COOL!

I took a short video of the sunset tonight.

I also spoke with a couple that had this:

Nice couple had this one. He was a BIG guy. I told them that was my first RV and said I decided I needed a bathroom. They have a “privacy” tent that they are using on this trip for the first time. They are on their way to Big Sur. They took off and went out to dinner. I stayed home and ate my favorite Amy Bowl – the one with Kale and Rice Noodles. The microwave is pretty strong. It over cooked the cheese a little although I like it that way. I’ll probably do it for 2 minutes 30 seconds twice rather than 3 minute twice. Will probably have the mexican one tomorrow – we’ll see.

I tried to turn on the TV while eating dinner and it didn’t pick up any stations. I might be doing it wrong. I think I can get the DVD to work though and I have The Greatest Showman. I doubt I’ll watch it. I’m thinking about going to bed shortly and reading, but you know what that means – probably go to bed early and get up early for the meeting. I’m supposed to chair in the morning. We’ll see what happens without a cat to wake me up at 3am. Poor Jack – hope Metaxa survives.

Starting this again on Monday, August 14, 2023. I want to stay one more night. I’ll check with the office later to see if I can stay another night. I’m just not ready to “hit the road”. The rig has finally stopped vibrating – I used to think that, but realized it was just my body after 6 hours on the road. I slept well last night. Woke up a couple of times with cramps at my ankles. I think it was from the drive. I’ll drink more water today. On my second pot of coffee right now. This was the temperature when I got up today.

The perfect temps!

Had to do this today:

Suzee’s slippers gift!

I’m going to stay an extra night here. I want to “try out” the over cab bed. Might not do that. But I may do it. I need to call Sirius XM and get it on this rig. I’ll see if it is on the radio already – there is a channel on it, and it may still be in this rig.

Found this video of Wylie meeting Daisy!

I also found this video of my house in Benson.

Benson Home Tour

I’m set for one more night here. I just don’t want to go back to that 100 degree temperature in Tucson. I love it here. Took this great picture of a pine tree on a short walk this morning:

Here is another one:

hBeautiful Blue Sky. Hope it won’t rain today. I’m going to go on a longer hike today. Found out where I need to go. Will carry water, set my hiking app and wear a hat and the dreaded SUNSCREEN!

Here is a picture of the top of DAISEE2 – pretty busy up there:

Had a little Dollar Store Snack. It’s good until November so I hope it’s true:

Took this picture on my way to the office:

So this is the fun thing for the kids to do:

Bounce Pillow

Going to get going now. Will take my hike before it gets too hot. Although it won’t get NEAR 100 here today!

I went for a hike this morning and used my app to map it:

Difficult hiking at 7000 feet. It was slow although I’m happy I made it 1 mile!

I did turn the chair around – love that it does this – every tour of the Chateau 22E like mine I’ve seen never mentions this!

This is a GAME CHANGER for me!

I did meditate this morning:

Along the hike this morning I saw some interesting trees:

Thought it would be nice to have a neighbor but a little close if you ask me: It’s a rental!

A couple and a teenager:

Beginning this again on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. These were the temperatures this morning:

It’s warmer this morning. Let’s see what the temps are supposed to be today:
Looks like we’ll be getting some rain here today. Let’s see what is happening in Tucson today:
It might rain there today too. But I’m glad I’m staying here an extra day. Today, I need to find a phone number for the DOT here in Arizona so I can check on Route 17 going south. I’m hoping there isn’t a detour like there was coming up here. I had almost forgotten about that disaster until I thought about going home from here. There is supposed to be a number to call about road closures etc.

Going to do some exercising today – yesterday was DAY 90! Pretty good. It’s 9:30 right now and I just finished a wonderful shower at the bathhouse. It feels so good! Now I can walk around today and not worry about a shower.

My rental van neighbors have left. I felt pretty exposed by them. Now I can open my bedroom blinds and turn on the fans. I also opened up my awning. No wind right now but I’m expecting rain this afternoon and after my walk. I see some ominous clouds. Hopefully not. I’m thinking of disconnecting my water now since I’ll be leaving early in the morning and I’d like to have the hose empty. I’ll do it later.

Even though I didn’t like the closeness of the rental van folks, now that I don’t have any neighbors – that feels weird too. Oh goody – new neighbor in a GEO-PRO down the way:

I think it is just a guy in this set up – we’ll see – I can watch them out my big window. A couple of gay men.

I did a short walk around the campground. It’s pretty empty today:

I must say, it seems they are making toilets in RV’s bigger for our bigger butts. This one has a plastic seat cover that moves a bit and I’d like to change it because I can’t seem to tighten it. Maybe Jack can. We’ll see. ANYWAY – this is a great porcelain toilet and is bigger than I’m used to in an RV. Daisy BF had a porcelain toilet too, but it was longer and sleeker. Butt this will do!

So yesterday I had the family in the rental van RIGHT next to me and tonight I have these two guys in a TENT next to me. There are PLENTY of other spaces much more conducive to tenting, but OH Well. Anyway I’m documenting them – license plate and everything in case something happens. But of course nothing will – it’s just weird if you ask me.

Look how close they are to Daisee2 and me! REALLY??????
At least the front of the tent is facing away from my rig and there are no windows facing me – only a rain cloth over the top of the tent. There are plenty of other places that would be more appropriate but that will work out ok since I’ll be leaving early in the morning and at least I can look out my biggest window and not see someone RIGHT ON TOP OF ME!
I mean REALLY!!!!!!!!!!

It is Wednesday, August 16, 2023. I’m still in Flagstaff and will be leaving at some point this morning. I woke up to rain this morning. Waiting for it to quit. It’s a soft rain. No biggy.

My tent neighbors left for breakfast. I slept well last night – didn’t get up for my meeting.

DAISEE2 is lovely. I am glad I took these 3 days to get used to being inside of her. The weather was wonderful and the temperature was so much better than in Tucson. It is so nice to have new, clean windows to look out and the one by the table is HUGE! It has been a great trip. Gonna fill up with gas right across the street and then head south on 17. I’ll leave in about an hour or so. Want to be sure everything is put away and to be sure the check off list is appropriate for DAISEE2. Sensors still say that the black and grey tanks are empty. That is great! I still have 3/4 of a fresh water tank. I was happy that the City Water didn’t leak. All systems “go”!

Coolest video EVER:

So when I left on Wednesday, I drove right across from the KOA to the gas station. This is what I bought:

I thought it seemed a bit low, but oh well. So I get into the rig and the gas is only at 3/4! SO I didn’t get a “fill up”. I’ll need to remember that the next time I get gas. Anyway, I got all the way back to Tucson and left her at 1/4 tank. Didn’t feel the need to fill her up if she was just going to sit there for a while. Anyway, I’ll fill her up in October when I go again – or maybe September if we decide to try going somewhere close by. After this little trip to Flagstaff, I’m glad I cancelled Yellowstone. It’s a little too far for me to do on my own. I think it would be good if Jack came with me on that trip.

I stopped once on my way back:

It is so nice to be able to sit and have lunch at the table. The table stays up all of the time when I drive Ms. DAISEE2! We drove 507 miles on this trip. It was GREAT!

Found this old video today and it is of me in Olivi@ talking about changing from the teardrop to another type of RV.
