Good Morning Everyone. Well, we’ve decided to do a thing:
We’re ready to add a kitty to the family. We found these two at PACC – Pima Animal Care Center, Jack wants a male cat but we think Bucky will be adopted today – at least that is what the foster mom told us. So we’re looking at Tina on Sunday at 10:30. It will be interesting. I’ll take lots of pictures and continue this blog for updates!
Ever since Jack’s cat died he has been thinking about a replacement. I think it will be interesting. Now we’ll have two cats like Eric from Nomadic Fanatic. The only difference is that our orange Tabby will be a girl rather than a boy. But that could change if Bucky isn’t adopted today – but the chances of that are pretty slim in my mind. I’m going to check YOUTUBE right now on transitioning a new cat to the family. I don’t remember doing anything special when I added Metaxa to the family when I had Wylie, Domino and Bamboo. I have a great picture of all 4 of them on my wall.
They are eating snacks – not dinners. I love that they circled up!
Started again on Sunday, August 20, 2023. It is TINA GOTCHA DAY!
Brought her home and is now in her “safe space”:
I was ready to pay $50 adoption fee, but she is about 4 months and so she was FREE! This place is very impressive. Really large and very clean and has hardly any odors. It is funded by the City. I think I’ll donate to them anyway if Tina works out. I’m sure she will. She is already getting curious – playing with toys and looking to “jump out” of her safe space. Today is Monday, August 21, 2023. Day 2 of our transitioning the new kitty. We’re thinking of calling her Zina rather than Tina. We need to find out if she was called Tina before – Zena would be a combo of Zeva David and Tina. Time will tell. Yesterday, Jack brought her in to the livingroom while Metaxa was on my lap. There was no tensing up or anything on her part. That is a really hopeful sign. We moved her into the bathroom from Jack’s office. That way we are able to have a door that we can open a bit so they can interact easier. I’d love to have her have the run of the house with Metaxa. I’m just praying for a good outcome. I have a good feeling about this and she is just so DAMN CUTE! We decided on Zena. She is now updated on the Microchip as ZENA!

Cuteness Overload for today:
Metaxa is acting weird today. She actually slept in the closet all night – missed her on the bed. Let me sleep until 4:30 and didn’t have any interest in her morning snack. I’m wondering if the new kitty is upsetting her in this way. We’ve brought them together a couple of times – just from a distance, Jack holding Zena and Taxi on my lap. Taxi did nothing – no reaction at all – no tense muscles or anything. So right now we’ll just play it out. I still think it will be ok. Once this initial period is over, I think things will be back to normal. Pray for us!
Beginning this again on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Metaxa has begun to sleep in her closet rather than on the bed with us. I hope that changes over time. Today we’ve decided to let Zena out of the bedroom into the livingroom while Metaxa is in her closet so she can explore that area. She has been waiting at the door and zooms out when we open it. So I think she is ready to expand her life. I think we’ll still put her in the bathroom at night for a while. Once they are together, I think she’ll like to sleep on the bed too. That will be an interesting transition. Metaxa is better today. She is talking and ate the snacks this morning. She is over looking out of the sliding glass door while I blog. I’ll be going to the meeting shortly and I hope she’ll come in and sit on my lap like she does often. Baby steps!
She loves to “flop” down and wants a belly rub. It is so adorable! She is a real keeper!
