RV Life with DAISEE2 #73 Saturday, December 2, 2023

Happy December 2023. I love the month of December. Not only because it’s by birthday month, but also it’s the last month of the year and I’m looking forward to next year. I’m getting excited about going to De Anza on Wednesday, the 6th. I’ll be there over my birthday and Metaxa and I’ll celebrate. It’s only about an hour from here.

This is the entrance to DeAnza. It was really great last year. I’m staying 5 nights. Pretty long for me to be gone, but I’m also thinking about going to Quartzsite again this January. I might stay 5 nights there too – I can actually stay 14 days for FREE there. I won’t take Metaxa on that trip. Too long of a drive. It’s about 6 hours there. I’m still debating in my head about it. I’ll watch the weather. I’ll ask others at DeAnza if they are going. It is quite an adventure and I want to tow the JEEP which will be a first for the new rig. Time will tell!

I’m trying to go to the Rally in June. I messed up the dates and now I need to wait 7 days to change it. I don’t like the Recreation.gov website. It’s pretty confusing.

Well today is the day I leave for DeAnza. DAISEE2 is all plugged in now and the fridge is working GREAT. I need to remember to turn on the Propane – I forgot to do that yesterday, but the fridge works just on electric and is chilling down really well. It’s 52 degrees this morning so I’m sure we will be chilled in the rig each morning. I do have the radiator in her and I’ll be plugged in. I can also get some local TV channels so it will be interesting to watch TV in her.

Yesterday I took this picture:

Look how big Zena is now. She is going to be much bigger than Metaxa when she is fully grown. They both like the little treats and will eat them together without fussing. SO ADORABLE!

Beginning this again on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. I am headed to Amato with RVW.

Filled up at my favorite station on the way to I10 from Bonanza:

$50 filled her up. $250 at Amato for 5 nights. We got a great rate – Saved $72.00. SO COOL!

Here I am exactly at 1PM Arrival:

Look at that beautiful BLUE SKY!

I’m getting DAISEE2 washed and waxed while I am here. She needs it! You can tell in the picture above that she needs a wash!

Here I am in SITE 59: No leveling required!

I put the picnic table covers on and I put out my awning and my rug. For 6 days/5 nights it is worth it. I’m glad I didn’t bring my bike. I can walk everywhere. Which reminds me I need to put the code in my phone so I can get into the Clubhouse for our Meet and Greet today at 4:30. I love my MiFi – it’s QUICK!!!!

I think I wore Taxi out:

She must like it back there because this is how she was at Patagonia!

I want to get a different blind in my door. I want to be able to look out through the window in the door. Let me go research that now. I need to go to a window place perhaps because I couldn’t find anything on Amazon.

Got a great picture of the mountains at sunset tonight:

We played Card Bingo tonight. It was a blast! I went with Sue and there were about 30 people there. I got close to winning twice – down to 1 card only. Here is proof!

Sue won a quarter pot:

Metaxa is pretty needy right now and it is so sweet. When I leave her, she talks to me non stop until she gets to sit in my lap. She is such GOOD company. I just LOVE this cat!

So it is now Thursday, December 7th my 73rd birthday! Now I’m as old as Jack! Metaxa and I woke up to:

I’m glad I brought this:

It tucks away under the table and the Bluetti keeps it from rolling out during travel. I’ve got it on HIGH this morning. The furnace turned on and cycled through once. I’m waiting to see if it goes on again. I may need to up the thermostat. Not sure what temperature it’s set at. The guage is hard to read. I may replace it with a digital one. Maybe Jack can do that? We’ll see.

My first cup of coffee is almost gone:

Metaxa is warming my lap!

Getting my rig washed today. $168 – I gave them $175. What a deal! I’m staying inside of her and it is very weird having someone climb on the roof. Here we go! Started at 8:05 and were finished at: 8:32 but they need to dry her off still. I’m about to go to Maddy’s for training and to get into the Campground.

Here is the finished picture of my beautiful, clean and shiney rig:

She looks better than when I just got her from LaMesa. I think they waxed her too, but I’m not sure about that, it was supposed to be done. She sure is smooth!

Starting this again on Friday, December 8th. I made it to my meeting this morning. It was really cold in the rig this morning. I turned the furnace on and it cycled twice. It is now 60 degrees in here now and the radiator is still on and is keeping it “toasty”.

Madeline is coming over shortly to help me upload the financial report to the website. So I’m starting the process. I think it will be good for me to do this job. Makes me feel like I’m “part of”. I uploaded the report! YAY!

I think I fixed my weather station:

Ran into the rig cleaners today:

We went to Longhorn Saloon for dinner tonight. There were 40 of us. They did a great job with our food and service. Here is a picture of some of us: This was my end of the table.

This was the entrance to the restaurant:

I had a salad but they had a really good menu. Lots of different items. I could easily go back!

Good morning again, it is December 9th now and it is Jennifer’s birthday! Happy Birthday to you Jennifer Kenyon Bates! Our moms were in the hospital together back in 1950!

I got up in the middle of the night and turned on the radiator. It kept it close to 60 in here all night. I turned on the furnace and I’m waiting for it to cycle again. It really helps with the cold. Works great. Speaking of working great, I used my firestick last night and watched Netflix. Started a movie with Julia Roberts about a cyberattack and it kind of scared me so I didn’t finish it. But I’m happy I have the firestick in here. I tried to turn on the TV and the fancy Wineguard wasn’t catching a signal, so I’ll try it again to see if that was just something from last night.

So this morning I got elected to be Treasurer of the Arizona Chapter of RVW. Not sure what I’m doing but I suppose by the end of the 2 years I’ll know the job.

Here is a list of all of the women who are here this weekend and where they are parked:

We had a raffle and I won one of the gifts : Gift basket, towel and bottle of wine – regifted the wine to Meg.

Woke up to these temperatures this morning:

Nice and toasty because I turned the furnace on at 4AM to “get the chill out” and our radiator was on all night. I’m not sure that it’s good to run that radiator all that time, but it’s still working so I guess it’s ok. I did learn something that made sense to me about the refrigerator. The RV Tech said NOT to run it while driving. Even though I’ve done it many times, it isn’t good for it because it doesn’t stay level while driving. So tomorrow when I leave I’m going to turn it off and turn off the propane (another thing I’ve never done), and see how the temp changes. Granted, I’m only an hour on the road and those longer trips may be problematic, but I’ll put those blue ice things in the fridge and hopefully the fridge will stay cold as well as the freezer.

So last night we had our gift exchange. It was fun. My ticket was the LAST one pulled!!!! Anyway, I got some cute little earrings in the shape of a teardrop and I gave them to Cindy who has a TAB. She gave me this in exchange:

I hung it on the wall by the fridge. It looks cute there. It was fun this year. Better than last year and only lasted about an hour and a half.

Now that I am a BOD member, I should read the bylaws of our Chapter. They are posted on the website. I’ll do that later today and I’ll probably need to do it a few times in order to get a feel for it. I’m not good at reading and comprehending that sort of thing, but I’ll give it a shot.

Here are a couple of pictures of our group last night:

I’m glad I participated. Now I’m going to go to our meeting. I’ll be back later.

So this is where I hung my gift: Looks cute right?

If you remember, I won a cookie jar last year. It looked great in Daisy – I’ll try to get that picture: I’ll be back:

OOPS got distracted!

I thought it would be too big in Daisy, but it ended up being just right in the corner of the kitchen by the stove. I left it in the rig for Nancy. It looked great with the wall paper. Let me see if I have a picture of that:

If you look carefully, you can see the cookie jar in the corner of the kitchen:

I was trying to figure out when my RVW National Dues were due. Found out I’m good through July 20, 2024.

My final activity for the weekend was to play Texas Hold’em. I’ve never played it and so I went to the training. Before that I played BINGO again and won a Dream Catcher that I put in the back window. It looks cool back there. At the same time I picked the Dream Catcher I won $5 cash. SO I used that money to buy in to the Poker game. It was really fun playing. Linda Elliott was the dealer/teacher. It was lots of fun. I won 2 hands that I had no idea I was the winner. Thank goodness they were honest and told me I won. SO at the end I won $6.40. Not bad for 10 cents a chip! It was great. I took a picture of the type of hands you can win in Poker:

Starting this again on Monday, December 11th. I’ll be leaving this morning. I’m in no rush because I’m only and hour from home. I took in the sewer hose yesterday and rinsed it clean. Now my Black Tank is empty as well as my gray tank. All I need to do is fold up my rug and put away my chairs. Also just unplug and I’m good to go. I’m going to test the refrigerator being off and turning off the propane too. It will be see how the temps change in just 1 hour. I want to take a picture of the dream catcher in the back window:

This is a picture of the mountain view at Amato. Beautiful Sunsets and Sunrises:

It is 10 AM and I’m going to unplug and take off. Life is SO good!

Found out that the front passenger tire was down to 28 pounds of air. So I had to put air in it to 65#. Drove home without an issue. We’ll check on it periodically at storage. Here is a picture of a cool camper that is all aluminum. Looks really fancy: It came in when I did. It’s a toy hauler and has a couple of bikes in it. Not sure if it was just one guy or a couple. I only saw the guy.

Here is another picture of the mountains at AMATO: Oops I see I already put this in – oh well.

Now that I am back at home, I’ll close this out and start a new one. Don’t know when I’ll do that. But I’m not scheduled for another trip until Cattail Cove in February.
